Who this page is for

Setup on See Play Show is meant to stay fast and simple. This page is the deeper reference for technical users, producers, and IT teams who need requirements before a show, install, or network change.

TouchDesigner version support

• Minimum build: TouchDesigner 2025.32050 and later
• Current component: See Play Show v2.1.24 (beta)
• Older 2023 builds: not supported. The component shows Unsupported TD and will not connect.

Operating system support

The See Play Show component runs inside TouchDesigner, so OS support follows Derivative’s supported platforms for your TouchDesigner build.

• Windows: supported (primary development and production path)
• macOS: supported. Token paste, HTTPS certificate handling, and connect behaviour are handled for macOS TouchDesigner environments

Live panels in the browser work on desktop, tablet, and phone. Controlling a show still requires a connected TouchDesigner session on a supported OS.

System requirements

• A licensed TouchDesigner install at the minimum build above
• The latest See Play Show .tox from the download page
• A modern browser for the website and live panels
• Enough machine resources for your own TouchDesigner project (SPS itself is lightweight)

You do not need a separate desktop installer for See Play Show — only the .tox component inside your TouchDesigner network.

Network requirements

See Play Show needs outbound internet access from the machine running TouchDesigner and from any device that opens a live panel.

• HTTPS to seeplayshow.com (REST API, downloads, and the website)
• WebSocket to See Play Show for live control, version sync, and connection status
• Stable connectivity during a show — if the link drops, the panel reports the disconnect and resumes when TouchDesigner reconnects

Corporate firewalls or captive portals that block outbound WebSockets will prevent live control even if the website loads. Allow HTTPS and WebSocket traffic to See Play Show before show day.

Features and options

• Projects & tokens — secure project keys that link TouchDesigner files to the cloud
• Shows — push custom parameter structure (pages, names, ranges, values) from TouchDesigner
• Versions — save, switch, overwrite, or create new value snapshots from TouchDesigner or the web
• Live panels — real-time web control of custom parameters on phone, tablet, or desktop
• Panel editor — arrange controls, preview device sizes, and share panels with others
• Client access — invite others to control specific panels without full creator access

Live control requires TouchDesigner to be running and connected. Without an active session, the panel shows that no TouchDesigner session is connected.

Updates and compatibility

• Component updates are published through the download page and the in-component update check (manifest-driven)
• Minimum TouchDesigner build and component version stay aligned with manifest.json — this page reads the same values
• When a host build is below the minimum, the component refuses to connect rather than failing unpredictably

Prefer updating both TouchDesigner and the See Play Show component before a critical show if either is behind current recommendations.

Known limitations

• TouchDesigner builds older than 2025.32050 are rejected
• Live control depends on a live WebSocket path; offline / air-gapped use is not supported
• VPN or flaky networks can interrupt live updates until the connection recovers
• Complex live-panel UIs may not yet meet full accessibility targets — see the accessibility statement
